We have been developing our hold and volume retexturing process for a while now, testing a wide range of materials and techniques to achieve the best possible results. The process has now reached a level where we can confidently offer this service to climbing gyms across Finland.
During the retexturing process, we can either preserve the original color of your holds or change it to any RAL color code. We also fill cracks, fix worn or damaged bolt holes, and rebuild broken areas before applying a fresh, durable texture and paint finish. One advantage of the service, in addition to the repair it self is the possibility to unify sets of different colors, giving your holds a consistent and fresh look.
Retextured holds come back feeling like new, and in many cases the texture can even be better than the original.

Why and what

Give your old fiberglass and plywood volumes a second life with our retexturing and repair service. Almost any color is possible, the paint we use can be shaded into any colour of the RAL Color code system — black remains the most consistent and efficient option. Old screw holes get repaired with wood filler, corners get patched, t-nuts replaced and you are left with a product that is almost like new.
Almost anything can be repaired. Fiberglass and plywood features are best suited but also PE and PU holds can be done. That said there is a point after which you especially for plywood new is just the way to go for safety reasons. We also wouldn’t recommend retexturing super small and thin holds that can bend when setting.
Pricing
Final quote is always done specific to your order based on pictures sent by you to ensure satisfaction of all parties. Every volume is different and can need this or that to get it running again thats why giving a fixed price list is almost impossible. To give you guidance about what you can expect for pricing see example order below. Minimum order quantity on all retexturing services is 500€ + VAT.
Volumes — Basic repair, screw holes filled, few corners patched and retexturing applied.
Holds — Basic repair, only retexturing applied.
The end cost of your order will amount from the repairs needed plus shipping costs. If you have a space for us we can also travel to you and perform the repairs onsite. Be aware that things like t-nut replacements, preserving dual-texture and screw hole inserts will add cost on top of the basic repair.
Repaired doesn’t equal new
The refurbished product will look new on the surface but underneath it’s still the same old volume or hold. We don’t take responsibility for the structural integrity of repaired volumes or holds. Like always it’s left for the setter and gym owner to judge what is safe to put on the wall.
